It’s 10:00 PM – Time for Dinner!

<—-  This was my dinner tonight.

Chips.

Salsa.

Candy.

I have no idea what Clay ate. We didn’t even see one another until 10:00 PM. Actually, I saw him at school for about five minutes.

Do you ever wonder how life became so rushed?

For ten years, I have been telling myself that we will slow down, but it never happens. There is always another event, another opportunity, or another crisis. Before the wedding, we spent all our time planning the big day. We said, “When we get married, we will finally be able to enjoy one another.”  But then, we were starting our careers, meeting new friends, painting the house, and visiting relatives.

Then, we started working on our Masters Degrees. “As soon as we finish school, we will have time together,” we said. But no. Life still happened.

“Just wait until Christmas…”

“Maybe during the summer…”

“Wait, wait, wait.”

If I have learned anything during these ten years of marriage, it’s that we have to carve out time for one another. This summer, we are making it happen. Somehow, we will sit down at the dinner table and relax. And not just one night per week. I am not talking about a date night. It’s time for a whole summer of togetherness! I wonder if Clay will be able to stand it.
