It took a lot longer than I thought it would.
But it’s official.
I do not crave meat or milk anymore. In fact, the thought of eating a barbeque sandwich or chicken nuggets actually causes a slight negative reaction in my body. I wouldn’t say I’m repulsed by the thought of meat, but it doesn’t appeal to me much right now.
I can drive by Milo’s without my mouth watering.
I can watch a Wendy’s commercial without turning the channel in desperation.
I can even sit with Clay while he eats a steak burrito and feel completely satisfied by my salad with beans, grilled bell peppers, and salsa.
I just have one problem… CHEESE. Well, two problems…EGGS and CHEESE. The thought of scrambled eggs and sharp cheddar cheese is rumbling around in my brain. I miss egg and cheese sandwiches. I don’t remember eating eggs that much before this project, but now that they are forbidden, I wonder why I didn’t take advantage of such a delicious treat.
I actually read a book recently that said, “To make a vegan diet healthier, try adding organic eggs to your normal routine.” That line made me want to cheat.
Maybe I don’t need eggs, though. Maybe my body just needs a variety of protein. For the next couple of days, I will try to figure out ways (other than beans) to get protein into my diet. I am open to suggestions!
